Galaxie’s sales have climbed from $25 million to $35 million in five years
Produits alimentaires Galaxie Inc., a 20-year-old food products company in Saint-Jérome, Québec, distributes converts and imports meat and frozen foods for hotels, restaurants, institutions. A Galaxie specialty is top-quality beef imported from the United States and Western Canada. Portion-controlled products are prepared to customers specifications with high-tech vacuum-packing equipment
The company also makes ground-beef patties for the hamburger market, sausage and chicken and beef brochettes.
Its product line is steadily expanding and now includes boned chicken breasts which are seasoned and frozen for the restaurant market, pouches of smoked meat for various retail food chains, and dry foods. Galaxie also slices and packages products for deli producers.
Galaxie employs about 130 people. Its sales rose over the past few years from $25 million to $35 million. This extraordinary growth entailed only a negligible increase in administrative activities involve order entry and processing. The information system played a major supporting role and innovation was required to improve process efficiency.
Galaxie was looking to outsource its IT operations and needed a partner who could take responsibility for the migration of the company’s systems and applications, as well as the upgrade of its hardware.
